The Whirlwind

I. God in the wind Gen. 3:8   And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool (ruah which means wind) of   the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

II. God spoke out of the whirlwind  Job 38:1-2   1] Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 2] Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

Job 40:6-7   6] Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 7] Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

III. God took Elijah to heaven by a whirlwind 2 King 2: 1   1] And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.  11] And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

IV. God used the chariot of fire in the whirlwind to move Ezekiel from one place to another Ezek. 1: 4   4] And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.  Ezek. 3: 12] Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.  13] I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.   14] So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.  15] Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

V. God commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind (whirlwind) Psa. 107: 25,29   25] For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. 29] He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

The Lord Jesus Christ raised a storm and calmed it to tell His disciples that he is God.  Do you really believe that?

Luke 8: 23-25   23] But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. 24] And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25] And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

VI.Where will you be in the whirlwind

1. Like Peter Walk & drown  Mat. 14:  28] And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
[29] And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. [30] But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.  [31] And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

2.Like Paul's ship the wind determine your path Acts 27: 15] And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

3. Like the chaff blown by the wind Psa. 1: 4] The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Eph. 4: 14] That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;  1 Tim. 6: 9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
