Thanksgiving - 1

     

I. Thank God for the gift of salvation

2Cor.9  : 15] Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Rom. 6: 23] For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

2Thes.2 : 13] But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

 

II. Thank God for the assurance of salvation

       1. John 10: 27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

   2. I John 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we

shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

 

III. Thank God for His care for us  

       1. 1 Peter 5: 7] Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

 

IV. Thank God for His promises

       1. 1 Thes. 1: 10] And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come

       2. The Lord Jesus Christ promised whatever we ask in his name he will give it to us

              Phil.4  : 6] Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

               John 16: 23] And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. 24] Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

       3. The Lord Jesus Christ promised to give the Holy Spirit.

               John 7: 38] He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39] (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

 

       4. The LORD promised to hear thee in the day of trouble

                Psalm 50: 15. And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

       5. The LORD promised that all things work together for good to them that love God

                     Rom. 8: 28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

V. In everything give thanks

1Thes.5 : 18] In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

To get this gift Pss.105  : [1] O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
