SHEEP GATE

Eliashib: This word is made up two words El and Yashib. El means God and Yashib is to go back. The word means to go back to God which is the word repent.

Tower: The Hebrew word here is megdal and this is derived from the verb gadal which means to grow.

Meah: This word means one hundred.

Hananeel: This word is made up two words Hanan and El. El means God and Hanan means to be gracious or merciful.

The sheep gate is a symbol of salvation. "Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; ..." We notice Eliashib the high priest with the priests they build the sheep gate. No person can have salvation without first repenting that is turn back to God. After repentance we need the high priest whose job is to make the atonement in the Temple on the day of Atonement and carry the blood of the the lamb to the Holy of Holies. "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." Jn:1:29

The Lord Jesus Christ was the lamb of God, and He was also that high priest who carried His own blood to the Holy of Holies to the throne of God.But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Heb:9:11,12 God accepted the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and now the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ cleans us from all sin.

Our salvation can give fruits thirty, sixty, and it grow to reach a hundred. But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Mt:13:8: We are saved by grace through faith and after we are saved we will grow by grace also. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. 2Pt:3:18:

"...they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel." Neh:3:1 We notice here this is the only gate that is sanctified all the other gates are not sanctified. "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." Heb:10:10 Once we are sanctified we do not need another sanctification. The aim of God in sanctifying us is to witness to others so they can be also sanctified. A wheat seed could grow and give forth fruit.
